Greyhound Outreach, Inc. Named Ambassador for Pet Rescue Campaign

National Program Hopes to Raise More than $1 Million

(2005) – Greyhound Outreach, Inc. has been selected as an Ambassador for the Purina® Pro Plan® Rally to Rescue™ campaign. As such, the organization will work hand-in-hand with the brand to raise local awareness and resources for pet rescue and increase its own adoption efforts by hosting events.

The Rally to Rescue campaign allows pets and owners to join forces and outfit themselves in matching rallying symbols for the pet rescue cause. Both dogs and cats can make a statement with purple, nylon adjustable collars that feature a reflective, silver stripe down the middle with the Rally to Rescue declaration. Owners can wear purple wristbands that look just like the pet collars but are sized for people.

The Pro Plan Rally to Rescue campaign will supply free sets of the collars and wristbands to Greyhound Outreach, Inc. to distribute in support of its rescue efforts.

Greyhound Outreach, Inc. is encouraged to request a donation of $5 per set.

“We are thrilled to have been chosen as an Ambassador for the Rally to Rescue campaign,” said Kim Rinoldo, Records Coordinator. “This unique fundraising initiative will enable local rescue organizations like us to continue to make a difference and save thousands of homeless pets.”

Additional Resources:

In addition to the donated collars and wristbands, G.O. received a customized “event-in-a-box” kit. The kit includes everything imaginable to host a local adoption event, including a tent and signage. G.O. also received adoption care kits to distribute to new owners to educate the adopters about their new furry friends.

For additional support, G.O. will have access to a members-only section of the Rally to Rescue web site that will provide additional pet rescue resources.

To learn more about the Pro Plan Rally to Rescue campaign or to purchase a collar and wristband contact G.O.by emailing your request to contact@greyhoundoutreach.org.

Each spring, the PETCO Foundation launches its Spring A Pet Fundraiser to help give pets in need a new beginning.

During the annual Spring A Pet Fundraiser, the PETCO Foundation encourages animal lovers to donate $1, $5, $10 or $20 to animal welfare organizations nationwide.

The PETCO Foundation's 2006 Spring a Pet fundraiser ended on April 16. The fundraiser encourages pet lovers to to purchase special Spring a Pet donation cards or round up their purchase. Donors of $20 or more receive a special gift as a reminder of their generosity.

Each Petco store selects an animal welfare organization to be the recipient of money raised at its location. In addition, a portion of all funds raised goes into a regional pool to be used by other animal welfare partners throughout the year.

This year Greyhound Outreach, Inc. was honored to have been chosen by the PETCO store loacted on Erie Blvd. E. in Syracuse as one of their recipients for funds raised at their location. We held 2 Meet & Greets there during the month long campaign and had great fun showing off these wonderful hounds and talking to their staff and customers about greyhound rescue.

Many thanks to the Petco Foundation, local staff, their venders and great customers for their generous donations!
